All families enrolled in the St. Mary Religious Education program are required to review and complete the Safe Environment training each year.  Specific lessons are available for each grade level.  Parents/guardians are asked to review this information with their children and complete the verification form before starting religious education classes each year.  All parents/guardians are also asked to complete the adult training.

General information on the Protect and Heal program from the Diocese of LaCrosse can be found at this link: https://diolc.org/safe-environment/

Student Safe Environment Instructions:

Below you will find instructions to complete the Safe Environment lesson with your child(ren).  Printed materials are available upon request.

  1. Go to: https://diolc.org/safe-environment/training/ and scroll down until you see the yellow section titled "Safe Environment Training Powerpoint Slides by Grade."
  2. Open the Powerpoint specific to your child’s grade level.  Each powerpoint builds on the previous year’s material so there is repetition between grade levels.  Bolded concepts are new for each grade level.  If you have a child in more than one class, you can pick one of the grade levels to teach all of your children at the same time, adjusting examples for different maturity levels.
  3. Review the entire slide deck with your children, using the slide notes (found below each slide) to guide your discussion.  We know that some of this will be a repeat of things that you already talk about with your family, but repetition can be a good thing.
  4. Once complete, please submit this Google Form - https://forms.gle/DKXJBZetYsAsHUrs7

If you wish to not have your child complete the training, please contact the parish office for a declination form.  ALL students participating in religious education classes must have a completed training or declination form on file.

Parent Safe Environment Training Instructions:

Below you will find instructions to complete the Safe Environment training for adults.  Printed materials are available upon request.  An in-person training is also available on August 26 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the school gym.  All parents or guardians should complete the training, either online or in-person.

  1. Go to: https://diolc.org/safe-environment/training/ and click the link or scan the QR code at the top of the page to begin the adult Safe Environment training.
  2. Follow the instructions on the slide deck to complete your training.  Please note that your training must take some time to complete the information or it will be flagged by the Diocese.
  3. When prompted, select Colby - St. Mary Parish and School and write in Parent when asked about your role.
  4. At the end, hit complete on both pages and fill out and sign the form to submit training.  Once you confirm your signature through an email, you will get a copy of your completed training and you are done!
